Prof. Minghao Zhao

Prof. Minghao Zhao is a Professor and Deputy Director of the Centre for American Studies at Fudan University. His research focuses on Sino-US relations, China’s foreign policy, international strategy, and the technology-security nexus. He is the author of 'Strategic Restraint: Is New-type Sino-US Relationship Possible' and 'The Belt & Road Initiative and America’s Competitive Strategy towards China'. He is frequently consulted by the Chinese government, and his research reports have informed China’s top leadership. His opinion pieces have been featured in People’s Daily, The New York Times, Project Syndicate, and other media outlets. He has participated in international research projects, including 'Global Trends and China-US Relations', a project co-sponsored by the Atlantic Council and the China Institute for International Studies. He has delivered keynote addresses and invited lectures at international conferences, including the World Peace Forum, the Plenary Meeting of the Trilateral Commission, the Atlantic Dialogue among others. Prior to joining Fudan University in 2019, he served as a Senior Fellow and Deputy Director for Strategic Studies at the China Center for Contemporary World Studies, the in-house think tank of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.
