Dr. Ritu Agarwal

Dr. Ritu Agarwal is an Associate Professor at the Centre for East Asian Studies, School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). She holds a PhD in Chinese Studies from the University of Delhi and completed her MA in Political Science at JNU. Her doctoral research explored micro-level agrarian transformation in Yunnan Province. Her research interests include rural political economy, urbanisation, gender studies, and provincial politics. Dr. Ritu Agarwal studied Mandarin Chinese at Beijing Language and Culture University, Beijing. She has been a Visiting Scholar at the Yunnan Academy of Social Sciences, Kunming, and a Visiting Fellow at Yunnan Minzu University and Yunnan University. She has also been affiliated with the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the East Asia Institute at the National University of Singapore, Singapore, where she collected research material for her work.
