Dechen Palmo is a research fellow at the Environment and Development Desk of the Tibet Policy Institute - the think-tank of the Central Tibetan Administration based in Dharamshala, India. Dechen joined TPI in 2016 and works on Tibet's transboundary rivers and their geostrategic importance. Dechen has written and published widely on water security issues, China damming crisis, and transboundary water management. She pursued her Master's in International Studies from Stella Maris College and her M.Phil. in International Relations from the University of Madras. Her Ph.D. thesis is titled “China’s National Interests on Transboundary Water Resources: A Comparative Study of the Brahmaputra and Mekong River”. She has participated in national and international conferences: the 23, 25 & 26th United Nations Conference of Parties (COP), the International Association of Tibetan Studies and the Young Tibetan Research Scholar Conference. She is also a contributing author for ORCA-NIICE Special Issue on "Transboundary Water Security in South Asia".
