ORCA is pleased to announce a webinar based on its ongoing research project, Episodes of India-China Exchanges: Modern Bridges and Resonant Connections. Undertaken by Senior Research Associate Rahul Karan Reddy, Research Associate Ratish Mehta, and Project Assistants from FLAME University, this project highlights the contributions of cultural intermediaries who have facilitated exchanges between India and China in the contemporary period.
India and China, as two of the world’s oldest civilizations, share a long history of cultural exchanges that have shaped their societies and political engagements over centuries. These historical linkages, facilitated by individuals, ideas, and objects, continue to influence bilateral relations today. In an era of complex geopolitical dynamics, people-to-people ties serve as essential channels for fostering deeper understanding, strengthening societal connections, and enhancing cross-border engagements.

Building on insights from the Episodes of India-China Exchanges project, this webinar will explore the role of intermediaries in sustaining these exchanges, their impact on communities across the Himalayas, and their significance in broader diplomatic and geopolitical contexts. Additionally, it will analyze the soft power dimensions of these engagements, along with the challenges and opportunities for promoting cultural dialogue between the two nations.
