Guancha reports on Gautam Adani’s indictment in bribery and fraud case: Guancha reports that Bangladesh is reviewing contracts with Adani Power after Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani was indicted in New York on charges of bribery and fraud last week. Citing reports by Reuters and Financial Times, Guancha reported that Total Energy, the French oil giant, has also suspended investments in joint energy projects with the Adani Group since the indictment. According to U.S. authorities, Adani and other individuals were charged with planning a $250 million bribery conspiracy to obtain profitable contracts for solar power supplies and hiding the information when they raised money in the U.S. The author speculates that while Adani has been seen as a strong ally of Mr. Narendra Modi, has refuted long-standing accusations from Indian opposition leaders that it gains an advantage from political connections. The author quotes the Financial Times stating that Adani Group declared on November 25 that it had sufficient funds to pay its debts for the upcoming year. This is the first time since the US authorities issued an indictment that the corporation has disclosed its operations, Guancha reports.
