Organisation for Research on China and Asia (ORCA), in collaboration with its MoU partner, the Centre for Chinese Studies (C3S), will host a webinar on “Influencing the Narrative: Foreign Social Media Influencers and China’s Digital Soft Power” on 17 August 2026. The session will be moderated by Ms. Ophelia Yumlembam, featuring Ms. Chitra Nair, Ms. Jiaxin Yang, Mr. Nishith Shah and Ms. Annunthra as discussants.
The discussion will examine China’s growing engagement with foreign social media influencers as a component of its digital soft power strategy and explore how state interests, platform ecosystems and commercial incentives shape Beijing-related narratives online.
