D. Purushothaman is Professor, Centre for South Asian Studies at Pondicherry University. He previously served as the Center Head of the UNESCO Madanjeet Singh Institute of South Asia Regional Cooperation and the Center for South Asian Studies, Pondicherry University. He has completed two commissioned projects from ICSSR and UGC. His areas of specialization include South Asian culture and water security, India's foreign policy, India-Nepal ties, sustainable development and climate change in South Asia. Dr. Purushothaman completed his Ph.D. in political science at Pondicherry University and his M.Phil. in defense and strategic studies at the University of Madras. He accepted a UGC contract position as a lecturer at the University of Madras' Centre for South and Southeast Asian Studies in 2005 and in 2008, he was chosen to serve as a permanent lecturer in the Political Science Department of the Tamil Nadu Government College Service. He is also a contributing author for ORCA-NIICE Special Issue on "Transboundary Water Security in South Asia".
